Jim quoted a statistic from a Wall Street Journal article claiming that since the late 1970’s, 163 million female babies have been aborted by parents seeking sons.

This statistic is disturbing on a number of fronts. One of those is the fact that in nature, it’s been discovered that there’s 105 boys born for every 100 girls. Any deviation of this ratio is due to the result of unnatural events. However, in India, the ratio is 112 boys born for every 100 girls. In China, the ratio is 121 boys to every 100 girls born. Other countries have skewed ratios as well and this is often due to abortion when parents find out they are carrying a female.

What are the social dynamics that are causing this decline in female births? Have there been any changes in the rate of crime in nations where this male/female birth ratio has been altered? Is the desire to reduce the human population a factor in this trend toward fewer female births?

Regardless of the motivation, the form of abortion known as gendercide is still murder. Jim details where and why this is happening around the world on this edition of Crosstalk.
