Robert Morgan is a pastor and author of several books including the newly released book, Then Sings My Soul—Volume #3.

Pastor Morgan believes hymns are important to the Christian faith because they represent 2,000 years of our musical and worshipful heritage and 1,500 years of biblical heritage. All totaled, it’s a legacy of 3,500 years of hymnody that’s often ignored in churches and this ignoring puts us in danger of losing this great tradition that helps anchor our faith.

This ignorance of the great hymns of the faith is ironic when you realize that in our computer era we have greater access to these treasures than any other time in history.

Pastor Morgan presents the history behind hymns such as “The Old Rugged Cross”, When I Survey the Wondrous Cross”, “I Know That My Redeemer Lives” and “How Great Thou Art”. You’ll also learn what the earliest hymn is in Christian history along with the title of the most famous children’s hymn.

This program originally aired April 5, 2012.
