According to the Washington Times, 2013 was a record year for gun and ammunition sales due to the threat of anti-gun legislation at both the state and federal levels. Can the 2nd Amendment sustain more attacks in this new year? Joining Jim Schneider to look at this issue was Bill Frady, the host of Lock & Load, presented by Gun Owners of America. He is a military veteran and a staunch 2nd Amendment supporter with a deep-seeded belief in the United States and the American people.

Last Friday the Obama administration proposed executive actions pertaining to potential gun buyers. For example, Bill expressed concerns about the government creating databases that would show that if you’ve even taken Zoloft or Paxil or you’ve seen a psychologist or psychiatrist they will expand the prohibited persons roll regarding guns. He also noted that if the government believes you can’t manage your financial affairs then you can’t have a gun as well. In fact, Bill claims the government has snared 175,000 veterans this way.

As Jim noted, the current administration is widening the door for those subject to a mental deficiency definition. The problem is, they use the vague phrase ‘or for other reasons’ and Bill admits this phrase is so ambiguous it can be adapted to mean whatever they want whenever they want it.

Where will this end? Much depends upon your involvement as you contact your senators and congressmen and state your views on this issue. Before doing that, become better informed by reviewing this vital edition of Crosstalk.
