This Crosstalk began with mention of an incident that was unfolding as of broadcast time in Ottawa Canada. Information from Jim Kouri of the Law Enforcement Examiner indicated that a suspected homegrown radical Muslim jihadist shot a soldier who was posted at the Canadian National War Memorial. Following the shooting the alleged jihadist charged into Parliament while firing bullets. A guard in the Parliament was hit but security was successful in returning gunfire and killing the assailant.

For over 30 years, Mike Gendron was a devout Roman Catholic and was taught to rely upon the authority of the church. He followed the priests, the sacraments and was depending upon his own good works for salvation. However in 1981 after attending an apologetics seminar called, “Evidence for the Christian Faith” the Bible became his sole authority in all matters of faith. As he searched the Scriptures he was amazed to see how often the Bible contradicts the teaching and tradition of the church he had been a part of for so long. Mike placed his trust in Jesus Christ as Savior and the Bible became his sole authority in all matters of faith. He founded a ministry, Proclaiming the Gospel, that points people to Jesus Christ as the all-sufficient Savior.

This Crosstalk centered on discussion of the Catholic Church and their recent Synod of Bishops.

Considering the fact that this is the first Jesuit pope, Mike is not surprised by the direction that the Catholic Church is taking. He knew the Pope would be aggressively pursuing a Jesuit agenda. What is that agenda? The goal is to bring all separated brethren back home to Rome (unite the world under the Pope), a goal that’s been in place since the Reformation 497 years ago. In fact, it was shortly after that that the Vatican initiated a counter-reformation headed by Ignatius of Loyola who is responsible for starting the Jesuit order. They were commissioned by the Pope to do whatever it would take to end the Protestant Reformation.

Today, however, the Pope is welcoming more than just separated brethren. He’s “opening the door” to all people into the church. For example, he said that if a person is gay and seeks God and has goodwill, it isn’t up to him to judge. He also said that atheists can follow their conscience into heaven. Mike communicated his surprise that there is little warning coming from with the Protestant and Evangelical camps and that instead, the Pope continues to win the world over through his humility and interest in helping the poor.

Mike pointed out that this Pope (who is allegedly infallible) has been corrected by the Vatican on several occasions. Not only is he not biblical in his statements, he’s also not Catholic in those same statements.

This deception was clarified as Mike described how the Pope recently spoke using the prayer of the Lord Jesus to the one and only Holy Father in John 17. The Pope said that the divisions in the Church, in addition to injuring the Church, also hurt Christ himself who, before he died, strongly called upon the Father for the unity of all disciples. This, however, is not what Jesus prayed. Christ’s prayer was for the unity of all that the Father has given the Son because they have kept his Word (John 17:6). Jesus prayed that they may be sanctified in the truth (John 17:19). Jesus also prayed for unity among those who believed in Him through His Word (John 17:20). This makes it clear that Jesus was praying for all born-again Christians to be united. He was not praying for unity between apostate Christians and born-again Christians which is what the Pope would like us to believe.

The Pope went on to say that we ought to accentuate that which unites us; Jesus and the richness of His love. As born-again Christians know, it’s not Jesus and his love that unites us, it’s Jesus and his gospel. That’s the only way to true unity.
