Today the efforts to ‘lower the bar’ for entrance into heaven seem to be as numerous as ever. In other words, the theological description of the path that leads to eternal life can end up sounding as though it’s as wide and broad as the road that leads to destruction that Jesus describes in Matthew 7:13. In order to be logically consistent, those who appeal to such theology must narrow the definition of the path to hell which is the opposite of what our Savior teaches.

Vic’s late father once wrote a poem entitled, ‘The Modernist Preacher Entering Hell.’ Vic’s reading of this poem sets the tone for this broadcast. It’s a fitting contrast to the news regarding a promotion from Fuller Theological Seminary as they draw theologians together for the ‘Rethinking Hell’ conference June 18th-20th.

Why is a doctrine that has been so biblically clear for centuries being challenged in our day? Vic has callers weigh in to present their views on hell as well as the clergy members who are challenging the settled word of God on the matter.
