Below is a message from Operation Nehemiah
about VCY America's support for the Sudan Project

Crosstalk listeners have generously contributed over the years to bring Christian radio into the Sudan. Listeners have provided mobile broadcast equipment, and now a permanent tower for Nehemiah Trumpet Call 97.3 FM Gospel Radio. The station broadcasts from a 300 ft high tower erected on the 2700 ft tall Gordon Mountain in Nimule, Magwi County, Eastern Equatoria State, South Sudan.

As of March, 2009, Operation Nehemiah reported on the final phase of the Nehemiah Trumpet Call 97.3 FM Gospel radio project:
The security fence, studio, and solar power installation is currently underway. We were able to obtain a total of 3630 watt solar panels from Canada with financial support from VCY America. The radio station is now 100% solar powered and we are free from dependence on expensive fuel. Praise the Lord!

"On behalf of Operation Nehemiah Missions and the Christians in the South Sudan, I want to express my deep appreciation to Brother Vic Eliason and VCY America for raising the entire funds to support Operation Nehemiah in launching a Christian Gospel broadcasting station in the South Sudan from the beginning to the end. I’m very privileged to co-labor with you in the Great Commission. We are now working on the building project and then the solar module will be next. May Jesus’ name be magnified and lifted up in it."

-William Levi, Operation Nehemiah

Signs for Nehemiah Trumpet Call radio

VCY America became involved with William Ochan Levi and Operation Nehemiah in 1993, when we publicized the plight of hundreds of thousands of Christians in South Sudan who were being killed or captured as slaves by armed forces loyal to the Muslim government in Khartoum.

Later, when conditions improved, hundreds of Crosstalk listeners donated to provide a truck that was outfitted with a radio transmitter, that could move from one location to another, shoot up its antenna, and broadcast the Gospel to that area. It's signal reaches thousands of people through portable, solar-powered radios that have been distributed. The people were excited to receive these radios, which are pre-tuned to the "Nehemiah Trumpet Call" station.

New 300 foot Tower

As conditions continued to improve, a small station was begun that reaches about 30-40 miles from their medical clinic. Operation Nehemiah is grateful for the help of Crosstalk listeners along the way, and has posted an acknowledgement of VCY America's help in making it possible.Later, they were able to obtain a permanent radio tower, and it has now been erected.

Later, Crosstalk listeners again helped raise funds to provide solar panels and their batteries and associated equipment, in order to power the transmitter without being dependent on a generator and expensive fuel. In addition, a concrete-block building was built at the base of the tower to protect the equipment. As reported above, installation of the solar panels is now being completed.

Below are pictures of people receiving the solar radios.

They are easily carried as you can see, and crowds appear
whenever people learn that the radios are available.
