Steven Shapiro is the founder and director of The Learning Connection.

20% of high school graduates are only reading at a 4th and 5th grade reading level. About 25%-30% of children have some kind of learning difficulty.

While these statistics are certainly alarming, Steven believes you can build the necessary skills needed by youngsters by helping them work on their motor skills, perception skills, auditory processing and vision processing.

Steven expands on the theme of vision processing to help listeners understand why some students are labeled as having a learning disability or deficit.

Some questions answered on this program include:

–Do iPads and television viewing play a positive or negative role in the area of learning disabilities?
–Do some schools actually like to have students with learning disabilities and deficits because of the increased funding they receive?
–What can parents do at home with their children to help alleviate learning disabilities?
–Is there a spiritual component to learning disabilities?
