Senator Inhofe represents the State of Oklahoma. He was first elected to the U.S. Senate in 1994. He is one of the leading conservative voices in America and a strong advocate of common sense values. In January, 2003, Senator Inhofe became the Chairman of the Senate Environment & Public Works Committee. Today he is the ranking member of this Committee. He is the author of the newly released book, “The Greatest Hoax: How the Global Warming Conspiracy Threatens Your Future”.

According to Senator Inhofe, the world saw its greatest CO2 emissions right after WWII. Environmentally we went into a period of cooling. In fact, in 1975, some environmentalists were claiming that we were heading toward a worldwide ice age.

So why does the global warming movement seem to communicate a “sky is falling” mentality today? Find out as Senator Inhofe traces this movement beginning with 1972’s U.N. Conference on Human Environment to 1987 when the phrase “sustainable development” was coined. He informs listeners that sustainable development is really “cap & trade” which is predicated on two assumptions: First of all, there’s too much disparity between wealthy and developing countries. Secondly, our planet can’t sustain the level of development that’s taking place now so it has to be controlled by the United Nations.

So why is the E.P.A. moving ahead with carbon control when Congress hasn’t authorized it? Find out why and what you can do to make a difference when you review this edition of Crosstalk.
