Harry Mihet is Senior Litigation Counsel with Liberty Counsel, an international nonprofit litigation, education and policy organization dedicated to advancing religious freedom, the sanctity of life, and the family. Harry grew up in communist Romania where his father pastured a number of underground churches. Harry and his entire family suffered great persecution. At the age of 12, Harry participated in the Christmas Revolution of 1989 when the oppressive Communist regime was overthrown. Shortly after, through a series of miracles, God brought Harry’s family to the U.S. He joined Liberty Counsel and is involved in defending the religious rights of many.
Harry and Jim began by discussing the case of a U.S. District Judge who has suggested stripping the first four of the Ten Commandments from a display in order to resolve a dispute between the American Civil Liberties Union and the Giles County, Virginia, School District.

The dispute centers on a collage of America’s historical documents. Several of them reference God yet the only document in the display that is at issue is the Ten Commandments.

The next topic discussed involved an Eighth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals battle where Liberty Counsel has been representing Child Evangelism Fellowship of Minnesota, the sponsor of Good News Clubs, against Minneapolis Special School District No. 1. Liberty Counsel is alleging that the school district unfairly denied equal access and opportunity to after-school programs. This is due to a 2009 incident where a school employee moved to revoke Child Evangelism Fellowship’s after-school program because the Good News Club included prayer and “proselytizing.”

This story was followed by news that Scott Lively, a U.S. evangelical pastor, is being sued in Massachusetts federal court by a group calling itself Sexual Minorities Uganda because Lively presented his views on homosexuality and pornography to pastors in Uganda in 2009. He is accused of violating international law and committing a crime against humanity.

Finally, Jim and Harry discussed U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder. His track record of inactivity in terms of investigation in areas ranging from Wall Street to the Fast and Furious case makes him look as though he’s abdicated his responsibilities as the nation’s “top cop”. Instead he appears to be little more than a “mouthpiece” for the Obama administration.
