Sam Rohrer is the president of the Pennsylvania Pastor’s Network and the American Pastor’s Network. He is a former state representative in Pennsylvania and served as a 14 year member of the appropriations committee who led the opposition to explosive growth of spending, regulations and unconstitutional mandates. He is a former candidate for governor in Pennsylvania. He now speaks at churches around the country on constitutional and biblical issues.

Sam took over the Pennsylvania Pastor’s Network when it had about 500 pastors as part of it but has grown to include about 2,400 pastors. God led them to start the American Pastor’s Network which now has the ability to form state chapters.

In addition to assisting pastors to stand in the gap for truth, the American Pastors Network seeks to be a voice into the public square as an advocate for pastors. They encourage pastors in the promotion, discussion and putting forth of the biblical worldview when it comes to analysis and recommendations of those things that are considered public policy. They also encourage pastors to preach these things from the pulpit.

Sam began by noting how quickly changes in America are occurring in areas that years ago would have been laughed off as being impossible. It reminds him of the Scripture that says, “If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?” (Psalm 11:3) He believes that if we are to respond, it is God’s people alone who own the singular key (2 Chronicles 7:14). Unfortunately the ‘turning from their wicked ways’ is the part we don’t often deal with. We often think it’s the other guy but it’s within the church.

It is the pastor in the pulpit who is the ‘point of the spear’ and he has the singular charge to preach the whole counsel of God, even the controversial parts. If we hear from the pastors, there will be a proper response. If we don’t then he believes we’ll see more of what we’re currently getting.

This is the basis that should form the response to homosexuality and how it’s affecting marriage and marriage protection legislation that is either being ignored or overturned. So if you’re a pastor who wants to do more and you’re willing to join other pastors who are seeking to speak with a unified voice, you’ll want to review this vital edition of Crosstalk.
