Our legislators in Washington are supposed to know what they’re voting on. In June of 2012, Representative Rand Paul spoke before the Senate and he noted the following practices that take place by our representatives:

–A 600 page legislative bill that not one member of the Senate will read before voting on it.

–Irrelevant items stuck into the legislation during the previous evening.

–A student loan bill at 6% that’s creating income for the Treasury (to pay for Obamacare) mysteriously gets reduced to 3%. The shortfall is then said to be made up by taking money out of pensions. The problem is, over half of the pensions in America are already technically insolvent.

–At the time, Paul noted that the Democrats hadn’t produced a budget in 3 years which is against the rules of the Senate.

Is it any wonder that at that time Congress was said to have an approval rating of about 10%? Is this what the concept of ‘sacred trust’ has come to? This is why Vic asked listeners the following question: If the institution is being run by the inmates, who are the inmates on either side of the aisle that could bring devastation to our nation?

Find out what your fellow voters had to say regarding possible solutions on this vital edition of Crosstalk.
