Guest: Barbara Loe Fisher
Barbara Loe Fisher is the president of the National Vaccine Information Center, a non-profit organization she co-founded with parents of DT vaccine injured children in 1983. For over 30 years she has led a national, grassroots movement and public information campaign to institute vaccine safety reforms and informed consent protections in the public health system. Barbara is the author of numerous articles and books including, ‘Reforming Vaccine Policy & Law: A Guide’ published in 2014. She is the mother of three grown children. Her oldest son suffered a convulsion, collapse and brain inflammation within hours of his fourth DPT shot in 1980 when he was two-and-a-half years old and was left with multiple learning disabilities and attention deficit disorder.
The vaccine scenario is much different than it was back in the 1960’s and 70’s. Back then there were only 23 doses of 7 vaccines that were recommended by the federal government and that were mandated by the states. These were given to children between the ages of 2 months and 6 years. Today that list has grown to 69 doses of 16 vaccines. 49 doses are given before the age of 6 and the first one occurs at 12 hours of age in the newborn nursery.
If you’re a parent or grandparent concerned about this trend, Barbara covers a lot of ground on this back-to-school edition of Crosstalk as she discusses the following:
–Why she believes the concept of vaccine acquired ‘herd’ immunity doesn’t work.
–Why obtaining and reading the product insert for a drug is important.
–Vaccine symptoms that require serious attention.
–The Vaccine Injury Compensation Program.
–How safe is the HPV vaccine?
–Is there a religious exemption to vaccine laws?
