Preparation is underway in 3 major cities for the Pope’s visit to the United States. Screens will be set up on the Capitol lawn so that people can hear what the Pope has to say and some congressmen will be streaming the Pope’s message through their websites.

Other than the fact that Pope Francis will be addressing the United Nations as well as being the first Pope ever to address the U.S. Congress, should we be concerned that the Catholic faith, and the Pope in particular, generate so much attention?

Addressing this issue was Mike Gendron. For over 30 years Mike was a devout Roman Catholic and was taught to rely upon the authority of the church. He followed the priests, the sacraments and was depending upon his own good works for salvation. However in 1981, after attending an apologetics seminar called, ‘Evidence for the Christian Faith,’ the Bible became his sole authority in all matters of faith. As he searched the Scriptures he was amazed to see how often the Bible contradicts the teaching and tradition of the church he had been a part of for so long. Mike placed his trust in Jesus Christ as Savior and the Bible became his sole authority in all matters of faith. He founded a ministry, Proclaiming the Gospel, that points people to Jesus Christ as the all-sufficient Savior.

Mike believes that Pope Francis is the most influential false prophet on the earth today as he is deceiving 1.2 billion souls. He is not pointing people to Jesus but rather he’s pointing people to the unbiblical and ungodly traditions of a false religion.

Mike loves Roman Catholics yet teaches that the Pope is not the Holy Father. The true Holy Father is Jesus’ Father. Jesus prayed to Him in his high priestly prayer so it grieves Mike to see evangelicals, the media and political leaders referring to the Pope as the Holy Father.

Ultimately it’s Mike’s desire to point Roman Catholics to the Word of God. In contrast, Mike noted that the Pope is making changes in the annulment process. Annulments aren’t even in the Bible so it can’t have anything to do with salvation as Pope Francis believes.

Other points of interest that Mike discussed included:

–Pope Francis has become the most inclusive Pope in the history of the Roman Catholic church because he goes against historic Roman Catholic theology. One example would be his teaching that atheists can follow their conscience into heaven as long as they are sincere. Another would be his reinstatement of a professing homosexual priest to ministry.
–According to Revelation 13, 17 & 18, we see that the end-times will be marked by a global religion, global government and a global economy and this Pope has his hands in all 3. Is there a Jesuit agenda that lines up with these portions of Scripture?
–The body of St. Maria Goretti (the Patroness of mercy) will be sent around the U.S. beginning September 21st with the hope of healings taking place.
–Oprah and other Hollywood personalities have been invited to the Vatican to discuss how the church is perceived by Western media influencers and looking for ways to improve its portrayal in entertainment.
–The Pope has also said that during this upcoming Jubilee Year of Forgiveness, you can walk through the ‘holy door’ and obtain a plenary indulgence. What does this mean?
